Wilfredo Prieto
El Fanguito
15 Bienal de la Habana, Barrio el Fanguito, La Habana
Nov 16 - Jan 16, 2025
Wilfredo Prieto’s work indistinctly implements installation, video or performance, proposing spaces for reflection around power, the paradoxes of social relations and the effect and incidence of economic and political fluctuations. At the same time, he handles a peculiar poetics of scale, giving meaning to the magnitude of an object and the banality of a gesture. His work questions the basic structures of contemporary culture and reflects on consumption, society and thought itself. His actions move between the subtle and the obvious, an invitation to distance ourselves from common experiences.
Wilfredo Prieto appropriates the world around him to shape ideas with radical, precarious and fragile gestures. Through his work he presents metaphors that are crystallized in everyday objects and recognizable materials of everyday life.

Hours:
June and July: Thursday to Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m.
August: Tuesday to Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m.
We’re delighted to present a joint project by Bombon, Galeria Joan Prats and NoguerasBlanchard in Fonteta, a small village in the Empordà region from June to September.
The exhibition, conceived in two chapters (the first opening June 18th and the second August 7th) brings together artists from three different generations. The proposal begins with a concept from the Empordà Parar la fresca (to take in fresh air) described by Josep Pla in the book Las Horas (The Hours), 1953.
DiscoverThank you, gracias allows for a deeper undertsanding of the intertextual nature that underlies Schlesinger and Prieto’s Works as it forces them to live together under very particular conditions, favoring the emergence of connections between elements that wouldn’t necesarily have them.
Discover“The press is a watchdog. Not a lapdog. A watchdog. Now, a watchdog can’t be right all the time. He doesn’t bark only when he sees or smells something that’s dangerous. A good watchdog barks at things that are suspicious.” -Dan Rather (American journalist and a former anchor for CBS Evening News)
DiscoverInternationally recognized for his installations, objects, and interventions Prieto has developed an extensive body of works on paper that runs parallel to his larger projects.
DiscoverPrieto recreates a symbolic landscape but at the same time, the viewer is in the middle of a workplace environment, between the leftovers of a past action and the allusion to a future one.
DiscoverNoguerasBlanchard presents Wilfredo Prieto´s second solo exhibition in the gallery. Prieto´s installation s/t (alfombra roja) is comprised of a red carpet laid out in a straight line, which runs down the length of gallery.
DiscoverFor his first project made out of Cuba, Prieto has transformed the gallery into a library, with about 6000 books in different formats and sizes, where the complete abscence of the written word aims to explore issues of deprivation and censorship and question the authority of knowledge over perception.
