José María Sicilia, Juan Uslé
Nachleben. La pintura com a art conceptual
Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani, Palma de Mallorca
Jan 31 - Jul 6, 2025
José María Sicilia is an artist known for investigating the materiality of the intangible, such as sound and light, creating works that visualise invisible phenomena. His pictorial works range from sound recordings to the graphics produced by light waves, generating forms that explore the relationship between the ephemeral and the permanent.
His work mixes advanced technology with craft techniques, using a variety of materials such as wax, silk, bronze, and Japanese paper, all from a poetic and experimental approach. In the abstract painting that the artist has developed in recent years, embroidered silk takes on a leading role due to its possibilities for dialogue with light and the creation of spaces on the pictorial surface.
Prats Nogueras Blanchard is pleased to present El final del cuento [The end of the story], a solo exhibition by José María Sicilia (Madrid, 1954) on the occasion of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend. This exhibition brings together works made between 2023 and 2024 using brass, embroidery, Japanese paper, oil and Murano glass.

We’re delighted to present the second chapter of the joint project by Bombon, Galeria Joan Prats and NoguerasBlanchard, taking place in Fonteta, a small village in the Empordà region from June to September.
The exhibition, conceived in two chapters, brings together artists from three different generations. The proposal begins with a concept from the Empordà Parar la fresca (to take in fresh air) described by Josep Pla in the book Las Horas (The Hours), 1953.
