Robert Filliou
The Speed of Art, 1979Edition – Colour serigraphy on three white note-cards15 × 21 cm (5 29⁄32 × 8 9⁄32 inches)
According to the idea that the creation (art) is permanent, Filliou proposes that the part of it which is fiction (which re-contextualizes the idea of art itself) tends towards zero. Hence, fiction would not exist anymore within art, and artistic practice and its reception would function in the same space-time frame than ordinary life. This theory assumes the time of art and the time of life as identical.
Following this idea, the sentence often used by Filliou "art is what makes life more interesting than art" is enlarged by the notion of "speed of art".
