Perejaume
Illa, 1988Oil on canvas92.3 × 119.3 cm (36 11⁄32 × 46 31⁄32 inches)
In Illa we can apppreciate how Perejaume’s practice is marked by a lyrical use of conceptual strategies. He materializes the complex relationship between landscape and its representation, incorporating a non-pictorial medium to problematize the notion of painting. This work has been developed in an attempt to describe “how men have learned to flatten out the earth on a piece of paper, inventing a portable landscape, the hand- landscape”.
